The display is reminiscent of the Kisai RPM. You get the LED backlight in either red, blue or orange, the gap in the inner ring tells the current hour, and the skinny rule around the outside tells exact minutes. Relative to some of their other watches, the Kisai SR2 is pretty easy to read, which is cool, reading the time on a Tokyoflash Watch should be intuitive and shouldn’t require consulting a manual, while a lot of watches that watch sells look pretty cool, not all of them are easily readable.

If you liked that watch, but aren’t a fan of black the RPM now comes in a new special white edition color. The curved, smoked lens that runs around the edge of the acetate disc creates a stunning contrast before you touch the button to illuminate the rings of digital tube LEDs that display the time. Simple to read at a glance, hours are shown on the inner ring in the same position as hours on a clock. Five minute intervals are shown on the outer ring in the same position as minutes on a clock and four single minutes are positioned at the top of the display along side the AM/PM indicator. Lights showing the current time will flash for several seconds to direct you. Ideal for night time, Kisai RPM has a light-up animation feature. When activated, the minute lights spin around the display in a clockwise direction once every fifteen minutes. This LED watch design is also USB rechargeable via your computer. One full charge will take 3.5 hours and each charge should last 1 month. There are 300 charges in one battery and the battery is replaceable.

Without some sort of continuous power you would have to blow on the watch and set the time every time you wanted to look at the face. I can only assume such a watch concept ever came to be a real product, it would need a battery so it would know what time it was when the LCD fired up.

   I have owned watches over the years that have had no numbers, and I always end up telling people “it’s about 4pm” or whatever because without numbers it’s hard to get an exact time. A new clock for your wall has been unveiled in concept for that looks interesting.

    The big downside here is that if you are the sort that needs to know exactly what time it is, the approximate time might now cut it for you. The clock will apparently be produced by a company called Cauca at an undisclosed price. Once released, you’ll be able to get the Eclipsion in either black or white.

The VUE watch was designed by Yves Behar for Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake. Unlike most of the watches we see from Japan (like the ones from Tokyoflash), it’s really easy to tell the time on this one. When it’s the appropriate time, a moving layer allows you to see the right time, while the previous time gradually fades away.

What makes this watch so interesting is that it shows only the most relevant numbers on your watch face, no others. That was a pretty smart idea, since you can easily tell time with a glance, which should be the main purpose of a watch.
